Our Wedding Day: Why We Chose Simplicity

October 5th, 2024, was the best day of my life—the day I married the love of my life, the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. We chose a simple wedding, and from the moment the day began to when I fell asleep that night, everything was perfect—simple, intimate, and full of love. It felt like a beautiful dream, but even more than that, it felt like the beginning of our forever.

We Became Us

When I walked down the aisle, all I could see was Fred. The moment our eyes met, everything else faded away—the noise, the people, the world around us—it was just him and me. Time seemed to slow as I took each step closer to him. I saw the tears welling up in his eyes, and in that instant, my heart swelled with so much love that I couldn’t hold back my own tears. It was a moment so deep, so pure, it felt like the entire world stood still, and all that mattered was the love we were sharing.

When we said "I do," it was more than just words—it was a quiet, powerful promise to each other, filled with love and a deep sense of commitment. Our first kiss as husband and wife was everything I had imagined and more, a moment of pure connection that felt as though time itself had paused. It was flawless in its honesty, a reflection of the love that has always been so effortless between us, and in that kiss, I felt our forever begin.

The Decision to Keep It Simple

From the very beginning, we knew we wanted something simple. It wasn’t about having the largest guest list or the most extravagant venue—it was about focusing on what truly mattered: the love we share and the people who mean the most to us. We envisioned a small, intimate wedding with close family and friends—something that felt authentic to who we are. Of course, there were plenty of opinions about what we “should” do, where we “should” have it, and what we “should” get. But in the end, we stayed true to our vision, and it was perfect. It wasn’t about impressing anyone; it was about celebrating us.

Focusing on What Really Matters

Having a small, intimate wedding allowed us to focus on what truly mattered: the love we share, and the time spent with those who matter most. With a smaller guest list, we could fully be present. The evening flowed with laughter, heartfelt conversations, and delicious food, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.  Even something as simple as cutting the cake felt incredibly special, a moment that was just ours.

At the end of the evening, we had our first dance. As we swayed together, it felt like the entire world faded away, and it was just the two of us holding on to each other. There was something so intimate about our dance, something deeper than just the steps. It was a reflection of the life we were beginning together—one full of love, trust, and countless more moments like this. That moment, full of meaning and emotion, is one I will always hold close to my heart.

Why It Was Perfect for Us

Our wedding was perfect because it was true to who we are. We didn’t need a grand celebration to feel special. It was about creating a space where we could focus on each other, our love, and the family and friends who have stood by us through everything. The simplicity of it all allowed us to fully embrace the quiet moments—from the first glance down the aisle to our first dance—without distractions. Every detail, from the vows we exchanged to the intimate celebration with our closest loved ones, felt just right. It was perfect because it reflected us—genuine, heartfelt, and real.

A Day We'll Never Forget

I wouldn’t change a single thing. The simplicity of our wedding only made it more beautiful. It was exactly what we envisioned—authentic, meaningful, and full of love. We stayed true to ourselves, and that made all the difference. It wasn’t about the grand details; it was about us, celebrating the start of our forever. The simplicity wasn’t just a choice—it was a reflection of our love, our connection, and what truly mattered to us. That day, in all its quiet beauty, was perfect—and it will forever be the best day of our lives.
